YLNI the VOTE was created in 2007 as a way to inform YLNI members and the general public. YLNI believes in an informed, educated membership; and YLNI the VOTE serves as an excellent way to encourage emerging leaders to vote. The committee is responsible for producing a candidate brochure for the general election and opportunities for the membership to meet the candidates.
YLNI has continued to produce a non-partisan informational candidate brochure which provides information needed for voters to make an informed decision. Each year candidates are asked to provide general background information and to answer questions pertaining to their desired elected office. The committee also hosts events throughout the election cycle to hear from those seeking office. In the past, YLNI has hosted a mayoral debate, candidate forums, and candidate meet and greets.

In 2013, YLNI the VOTE hosted its first Candidate Bootcamp. YLNI Candidate Bootcamp is designed to get Northeast Indiana’s young leaders thinking critically about public life. It is a valuable program that gives members the opportunity to connect with proven community leaders from the public arena to gather insights into what it takes to run a political campaign or being a candidate for public office.
