Allen County turned 200 in 2024! To celebrate, YLNI and the Allen County Commissioners launched the 2024 Kindness Challenge.

It was a county-wide initiative to spread kindness. Whether you participated individually or with a school, organization, or business, we achieved our goal of one million acts of kindness in 2024!

We watched Allen County's Kindness Movement SOAR to more than a million acts!

Each and every act moved us closer to making Allen County the kindest county in the country. We inspired others, built momentum, and created a lasting bicentennial impact, one kind gesture at a time!

Romano checked in with Alayna when she arrived to the Fall Festival. Alayna arrived late, so Romano wanted her to feel included with the rest of the group.

I volunteered with Out of A Jam's Feeding Fort Wayne program where we prepare food for the needy. We recently cleaned, chopped, and bagged enough fresh veggies to feed about 500 people. The event is well organized and fun and I meet very interesting volunteers.

The Visit Fort Wayne staff completed 200 acts of kindness in 2024!

Gave a daybed and headboard to a gentleman who was painting in our neighborhood. I didn't know him but he saw me struggling to lift a heavy box into my car. I randomly asked him if he needed a bed or knew anyone who did. In fact, he did! To salvage his bed frame, he was using belts to hold it together. What a blessing to know the person who would benefit from this!

Today, heading into a meeting, I noticed a woman and her presumed caretaker on the sidewalk in front of me. They were juggling several things in their hands and also looking for an automatic button to open the door (which didn’t exist). They got to the door before me, attempting to juggle that, too - so I yelled ahead of me and said one moment, I’ll help! This tiny exchange turned into a nice, brief conversation and well wishes as we all went about our day. The day was brightened for each of us by simply taking a moment to help out and say hello.

As I was leaving work today, I saw a woman in the parking lot starting there on the phone with her car hood popped. I stopped and asked is she needed help. She was in need of a battery jump, but has no cables. I offered up my cables and was able to help her get her car started again with assistant from hey friend that also showed up.

Deck Removal

Helped complete yard work with my daughters and a few friends to remove a rotting deck for a man that is battling cancer, under going chemo, and was recently told he won't get his disability benefits. He doesn't have the energy to complete this type of maintenance that is desperately needed.
