Have you ever been to an orchestra performance? I have to tell you, just three years ago, neither had I. It's intimidating, right? What am I supposed to wear? What if I don't get the music? What if I clap at the wrong time? Isn't it expensive?
I promise you, whatever you're thinking, I'd been thinking it, too. There's a historic stigma it's carrying around.
Luckily, for us in Northeast Indiana, we've got our own Fort Wayne Philharmonic, that negates a lot of these concerns and stereotypes. The truth is, the Phil is catering to us now, and helping us connect the dots between the past and the present when it comes to this music.
Having a philharmonic in our community adds so much value to our lives, if we only give it a chance to. Like many other forms of art, it's a great way for us to connect, and have experiences together.
That's why the Fort Wayne Philharmonic is now presenting Music + Mixology, this Saturday, February 3 at 7:30 PM at the Embassy Theatre. It's an opportunity to gather and experience great music and drinks, together. This is about meeting like-minded, curious people, and maybe getting out of your comfort zone a little bit. (And did I mention, at an insanely reasonable price? Tickets are just $25 each for a drink and the show!)
Here's how it works—you buy your ticket online or at the show. We gather together in the beginning to meet, take in a show together, and then stroll just down the street to grab a drink together. Easy.
So, I hope you'll join me in a new experience. I, myself, have never heard the upcoming performance, but I'm excited to see what it has to offer, and make some new friends along the way.
