The YLNI Farmers Market is a producer-only market, meaning that our vendors personally make or grow the products they sell. Every vendor is local, coming from Allen or surrounding counties.

The YLNI Farmers Market is run largely by volunteers who are passionate about engaging our community head-on and making a positive impact on the places in which we work and live.
Historical Facts
The YLNI Farmers Market represents an important part of Fort Wayne’s history. It is an ongoing tradition that’s been alive in the heart of our city for more than a century. Here’s why:
- Located in the oldest public space in Fort Wayne (at the corner of Barr and Wayne Streets)
- The original Barr Street Market operated continuously from the 1840s-1950s
- In its heyday, the Market stretched for 2 city blocks and had several permanent buildings
YLNI hosted the grand reopening of the historic Barr Street Market from September 10-October 1, 2005. The types of vendors included Honey/Beeswax, Products, Produce (Fruits/Vegetables), Coffee, Breakfast Pizza/Pastries/Baked Goods, Organic Farmers, Blown Glass, and Organic Flowers. Live music also filled the corner of Wayne & Barr Streets as market-goers visited to browse and shop.
The YLNI Farmers Market has proudly earned the title of Indiana’s #1 Farmers Market for 2022, 2023, and 2024, as recognized by the American Farmland Trust. It also ranks #3 in the Midwest and #6 nationwide. Additionally, it has been celebrated as Fort Wayne’s favorite destination by the Readers’ Choice Awards for an outstanding five years in a row (2019–2024).
